Introduction to the Cadmus knowledgebase
This page is only an overview, for a couple of reasons. Whitepapers describing the tech would overwhelm this page. Also, much of the tech has to be experienced to “get” it, and thus can’t be done on a web page.
The KB technology
History is taught as special people in special places at special times. But it is not that – it is many things connected to many other things causing many more things to happen. Digitally, rather than being a database of people and events and locations and events, it is a graph.
Cadmus is the project name for the knowledgebase, and is being built on an RDF graph database. This technology provides abstractions for those entities, and also the natures of the relationships between them.
The interface to Cadmus is through a conventional REST API, but the API is seriously not conventional. This will be discussed more below.
